The Rackham One-Term Dissertation Fellowship is intended to speed the process of completing the dissertation. Except in unusual cases, they should be awarded to students who are at the writing stage of the dissertation. This will permit candidates to work full-time on the final stages of their dissertations. SEAS has been allocated four (4) fellowship slots for 2017-18.
Award: Candidacy tuition and registration fee, GradCare health and Option I Dental insurance, and $9,869 stipend (currently) for one term. This award may be used for one of the following terms:
- Fall 2017
- Winter 2018
- Sp/Su 2018
Eligibility: Students must have achieved candidacy status, have an approved dissertation committee in place, and should be at the final writing/defense stage of the degree.
SEAS Application Process:
- Faculty wishing to nominate a student should submit 2-3 SUBSTANTIAL PARAGRAPHS to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 8, 2017. This statement should describe the student's outstanding qualities and appropriateness for nomination as outlined above; it should also specify the student’s completion term.
- Students interested in being considered for one of these awards should check with their advisor to make sure a nomination statement has been submitted to email@example.com by the above deadline.
- SEAS Scholarship Committee will review all nominations and make a final decision later in May.
