Campus Sustainability
As places of research, innovation and teaching, (higher) education institutions (HEIs) are called upon to play a specific role in sustainable development. Scientific literature discusses concepts like education for sustainable development, sustainability science, or the societal engagement of HEIs. Moreover, HEIs are operational entities that contribute to or hinder sustainable development - with their energy and resource use and their operational culture.
In this course, we will discuss all areas of HEIs and ask how sustainable development can be understood and supported in these contexts. We will look at international examples of sustainability strategies and processes and debate barriers and tensions, as well as different stakeholder needs and how they can be addressed strategically.
No specific skills prior to taking this course are necessary.
