Engagement for Impact
EAS677.085 is focused on building skills and context for impactful public engagement. This course will explore engagement, facilitation and outreach through three lenses: Theory, Tools, and Action. Topics covered include: soft communication practices, building partnerships, diversity in engagement, reflective practice, public speaking/writing, planning/project management, and evaluation. This course will explore real-world scenarios with community partners to strategize and execute an engagement/data collection event to build skills and maximize impact. Students will leave the course with boots-on-the-ground experience and an actionable toolkit to strengthen engagement and organizing practices outside the classroom and into the real world.
