EAS 501.072 - Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Sustainability
Massive societal changes are required to meet decarbonization, biodiversity, social justice and human thriving targets. Entrepreneurship and innovation by businesses, governments, civil society organizations and others are needed. In this course, teams will select problems they care about and use entrepreneurial/innovation processes to address them. We’ll map system states and trends, identify pain points, and use future visioning, ideation and design thinking to identify improvements. We’ll assess the business, social and ecological cases of potential innovations, iterating through stakeholder discovery processes, and culminating in pitches to experts. Along the way, we’ll examine others’ efforts to launch entrepreneurial ventures and innovations and discuss the factors that influence success and failure.
