Corridor Performance: Measuring the Impacts and Benefits of Design on Urban Retail Corridors

Project Description

This project combined analysis of grassroots neighborhood stabilization plans, sewer infrastructure, and GIS-based hydrologic modeling to inform the planning and design of site-based green infrastructure best management practices (BMPs) for urban stormwater management in Detroit's Lower Eastside.  This also facilitated an assessment of the collective community benefits and limitations of site-based green infrastructure to mitigate flooding frequently reported in the Lower Eastside's Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood.  Planning and design concepts for a green infrastructure network are presented at multiple scales for this area.
