I am so grateful to have had opportunity to learn alongside you all. You are all amazing and wonderful and brilliant. Congratulations on finishing up the program, and best of best wishes for what comes next (and I hope that at least a small piece of what's next includes rest)!
Dear Zoe I am so proud of you. Please help make the world a better place, I know you can.

SHANNON O'BRIEN LLOYD - UMICH and the SEAS program are lucky to have you!!! You made a plan and accomplished your goal - congratulations to you on your MASTERS degree! The UN and the world await. Enjoy the Ann Arbor summer. We are SO proud of you. Thank you to the Fuel Lab, professors and mentors, and the amazing grad students at SEAS.
Shannon, You have earned this UMICH chair! Congrats on your hard work and dedication to the SEAS program. We cannot wait to share the next journey with you. Enjoy every minute of it.
To all the 2021 graduates, in this new phase of your life my wish for you is that you will be able to find your professional “niche.” A place that allows you to thrive and prosper!
To my EAS 541 and especially my EAS 543 students:
Shannon Blair, Isabella Bledsoe,Rachael Carlberg, Dani Cohn, Santhi Davedu, Jacqueline Edinger, Ryan Horwitz, Sebastian Kasparian, Shannon Lloyd, Bethany Louria, Bella Mayorga, Lavran Pagano, Vineeth Jason Putti, Yiwen Shao, Jennifer Wardell, Colin Welk, Wanying Wu
A poem by a Costa Rican writer Jorge De Bravo always comes to my mind when embracing a new adventure. Specifically, one of the verses says, “… Y adentro de sus ojos se veía un mundo caminando… ” which loosely translates to “… in his/or her eyes I was able to see the word turning…” Remember in our eyes, the world is turning, and even if you need to force your own path, the world is turning, keep going!
A special shout-out to Lavran Pagano. He was the GSI for EAS541 this semester. It was a pleasure to work with you. You always showed interest in your students; you demonstrated a mastering of the class topics, worked very hard grading labs, and always had a cheerful disposition.
It’s no surprise that Ann Arbor is where you begin your journey towards protecting the world’s environments and building sustainability.
Conner, you have worked so hard during these unprecedented times. Huge congratulations on your success!! We love you and can hardly wait to see the positive things you will undoubtedly bring to the world.

My dear Son, on behalf of our nuclear family, I congratulate you on your graduation today with MS in Sustainable Systems. We wish you success as you leave university of Michigan to pursue your dream in a World you care so much about, with a passion for cleaner energy and renewable systems. "To all the graduating SEAS students, congratulations on this amazing accomplishment! You worked so hard to get here, and we know that you will do amazing things. SEAS students go on to a number of different paths, including working in non-profits, becoming University professors, starting their own businesses, and generally being extraordinary. But no matter what you do in the future, something you all have in common is that you use your knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on the world. Any community that you join will be lucky to have you.
