Michelle Aldridge

Michelle Aldridge is finishing her master's in natural resources with a focus on environmental policy and planning. Outside of school, she works part-time for the City of Ann Arbor on collaborative planning for the urban Huron River. As part of this State Wildlife Action Plan research, Michelle researched the development and implementation of New Hampshire's plan, and explored state-local intergovernmental planning across nine northeast states. Michelle looks forward to a public sector career in natural resources management.

Nicole Lewis

Nicole Lewis graduated in April 2008 with a joint Master of Urban Planning and Master of Science in Natural Resources Policy. She is interested in land use and conservation planning, as well as environmental and resource management efforts related to water and riverine/riparian ecosystems. Nicole currently lives in Oakland, California and works as a Project Associate for MIG, Inc, a planning, design and management consulting firm based in Berkeley.

Edalin Michael

Edalin Michael received her Masters of Science in Environmental Policy and Aquatic Science from the School of Natural Resources and Environment in April 2008. Her interests include freshwater policy, management, and science, as well as conflict resolution. Edalin will be attending Vermont Law School, where she will be studying alternative dispute resolution and water law.

Christopher Theriot

Christopher Theriot works at the intersection of emerging markets, sustainability, and public policy. In the summer of 2007, he worked at WWF-Indonesia in the Corporate Engagement and Policy Group working on avoided deforestation and the US-Indonesian debt for nature swap. He now works at CERES, focusing on developing ecosystem services markets. Prior to attending the School of Natural Resources and Environment, Theriot worked at the Chicago Public Schools as the finance and facility coordinator for Mayor Daley's Renaissance 2010 Initiative, an ambitious program to open 100 new schools. Previously, he worked at the Chicago Department of Environment. Theriot holds a MPP from the University of Chicago and a BA from Colgate University. He earned a Masters of Science degree from the School of Natural Resources at the University of Michigan in 2008.

SteveN Yaffee

Steven L. Yaffee is a Professor of Natural Resource and Environmental Policy at the University of Michigan. He also directs the School of Natural Resources and Environment's Ecosystem Management Initiative, a research, teaching and outreach center focused on landscape-scale conservation and sustainable management of natural resources. Dr. Yaffee has worked for more than thirty years on federal endangered species, public lands and ecosystem management policy and is the author of Prohibitive Policy: Implementing the Federal Endangered Species Act (MIT Press) and The Wisdom of the Spotted Owl: Policy Lessons for a New Century (Island Press). His most recent work explores ways to engage stakeholders in the multi-party, collaborative problem-solving needed for effective adaptive ecosystem-scale management. The lessons from this research are summarized in Making Collaboration Work (Island Press), a book co-authored with Julia Wondolleck. Dr. Yaffee's doctorate is from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His undergraduate and master's degrees are in natural resources from the University of Michigan. He has been a faculty member at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a Senior Fellow at World Wildlife Fund.
