Jiayang Li

Jiayang is a Ph.D. candidate at the School for Environment and Sustainability, working in the Landscape Ecology, Perception, and Design Lab with Prof. Joan Nassauer. She was trained in landscape architecture and worked in landscape planning and design firms in Ann Arbor and Shanghai before starting her doctoral work at SEAS. Her current research focuses on nature-based solutions that integrate innovative technology to promote sustainability and resilience of urban landscapes, examining an exemplary setting of “smart” green stormwater infrastructure. Drawing on both design thinking and social science methods, Jiayang is investigating how such innovation may affect, and be affected by, landscape experiences and perceptions, and how these experiences further connect to human well-being and the delivery of ecosystem services.
