Next Tuesday there will have a discussion panel on non-traditional outreach and public engagements. The panelist will discuss their experiences in different engagements and their implications to society.

In classrooms, textbooks, research laboratories, and the press, science is often portrayed as a fundamentally apolitical or disinterested pursuit of objective knowledge. However, Science for the People believes science is necessarily political. We grapple with the power relations that structure scientific research and policy, and unite the pursuit of justice. This panel will discuss the history of the radical science movement, the consequences of apolitical science, and challenges facing going forward.

Co-Design for Sustainability (CoDeS) is going to take place in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Organized around real-world case studies, the event will invite practitioners, community members, international experts, artists, teachers, and students to work collaboratively on solutions for sustainability challenges and communication innovations to connect research, teaching, and practice. CoDeS connects campus, civic, and corporate learning to improve, scale, and evaluate sustainability practice.
