Speaker Biography: David Wear

David Wear is with the research branch of the US Forest Service, located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. He manages a research program in the economics of natural resource use and management and conducts research in the areas of forest management, land use changes, and forest policy. His research work has led to more than seventy publications over the past 12 years. He is concurrently serving as co-leader of an interagency assessment of the sustainability of forests and their uses within the southeastern United States.

 

Dr. Wear currently is the Chair-Elect for the Economics and Policy Working Group of the Society of American Foresters, and holds Adjunct Faculty appointments at Duke University and North Carolina State University. He holds a BA in Botany and a PhD in Forest Management and Economics from the University of Montana and a Masters Degree in Forestry from Duke University.
