Meet the future
The world needs bold leaders ready to tackle urgent environmental challenges. At SEAS, we say “bring it on.” We’re the architects of a new tomorrow: transforming research into action to create a healthier planet for all.
Why SEAS?
Cattle raised by Maasai pastoralists aren’t the conservation villains they’ve been made out to be
New research shows that letting cattle graze in the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya had almost no discernible positive or negative effect on the ecological well-being of the reserve. SEAS Associate Professor Bilal Butt says this provides important context for land that welcomes tourists while excluding Indigenous farmers. The study measured and quantified the impact of the Maasai’s cattle grazing practices.
