The Wyss Scholars Program for Conservation of the American West

The 2017-2019 Wyss Scholars Program Application Guidelines are now available on the SEAS Wyss Scholars webpage. For more information on the Wyss Scholars Program, please contact Diana Woodworth ([email protected]) in the School for Environment & Sustainability Office of Academic Programs.

Wyss Scholars will be selected at SEAS on the basis of their leadership potential, commitment to furthering land conservation in the Intermountain West, commitment to pursuing a career as a practicing nonprofit or public-sector conservationist, financial need and academic strength. At the University of Michigan, the Scholars are under the umbrella of the Ecosystem Management Initiative, advised by Dr. Steven Yaffee. The Scholars are supported by grants from the The Wyss Foundation to selected universities. The University of Michigan is one of only four universities nationally to be chosen for these grants based on their superior interdisciplinary environmental programs and commitment to educating conservation practitioners.

The Wyss Scholars

Each year, two students are chosen to receive support for two years. More information about past and present Wyss Scholars at the University of Michigan and their research interests can be found below.
