EAS 548.001 - Intro Geovisualization
The significance of visuals in conveying and comprehending environmental and sustainability concerns is on a steadfast rise. Throughout this course, we will equip ourselves with the expertise to introduce interactivity and facilitate knowledge discovery,
especially in the face of complex spatial challenges prevalent in our professional fields and research endeavors. You will acquire proficiency not only in fundamental cartographic and visual principles, but also in methods for collecting, scrutinizing, and presenting geospatial data sourced from contemporary mobile technologies and diverse repositories, both public and private.
Our labs will be conducted using open-source software like QGIS and R Studio, thereby infusing vitality into the visualization and analysis of geographic data. The labs and lectures will be built upon real-world case studies in the domains of environmental
equity, conservation, global environmental change, and urban design. This approach renders the course of high interest to a broad spectrum of students.
