EAS 501.083 - Energy Politics and Policy
Description
To understand how to advance climate justice, this course introduces students to the politics and policy of the contemporary energy system, with a focus on electricity production and use. We will examine energy systems in the United States and in countries around the world at various stages of industrialization, centering fenceline communities’ perspectives. Students will learn the characteristics of energy technologies, perform the calculations necessary to compare policy options, identify key actors and interests in the energy system, and make original arguments about how the choices we make in our energy system are rooted in politics.
