EAS 501.179 - Environmental Communication in a Social World
Description
This class explores how to effectively communicate about environmental issues based on the premise that people are fundamentally social beings. We will consider how principles of social influence, social support, social identity, social norms, collective efficacy, theories of activism and social movements, power and social status, can be leveraged to improve environmental communication. The class will draw from a variety of social scientific disciplines, including but not limited to interpersonal communication, small group communication, and social psychology.
