About

Shannon Brines has served as an applied geographer at SNRE/SEAS since 1998.  He teaches multiple courses in Geospatial Data Sciences (GDS): EAS 516 Field Remote Sensing, EAS 540 GIS for Natural Resource Applications, EAS 544 Introduction to Python for Geospatial Data Sciences, EAS 644 Intermediate Python for Geospatial Data Sciences, and EAS 652 GPS and Geospatial Field Technologies.  Shannon provides teaching and research support to the SEAS community in the use of GDS and field technologies like high accuracy GPS units and the SEAS drone.  Outside of campus, Shannon began Brines Farm LLC in 2004, has been elected chair of the Washtenaw County Conservation District board, and serves on the state council of the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts.
