About Gabriel Thoumi, CFA, FRM, Certified Ecologist:
Gabriel is a former global mutual fund sustainable finance research manager and correspondent banker with previous careers in forest conversation / carbon accounting and oceanography, who since 2006 has solely focused on developing and deploying innovative solutions to address the transition to a net-zero, sustainable, and nature-positive future. With his diverse experience in over 35 countries, he has advised over 100 institutions globally, ranging from Interpol to BlackRock to supporting Indigenous and forest dependent communities, working on solving technical issues to facilitate our economies much needed transition.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute, Certified Ecologist from the Ecological Society of America, and has other relevant certifications in urban planning / buildings and bank risk management. He previously lectured at the University of Michigan and since 2016, he has lectured in sustainable finance at Johns Hopkins University. Gabriel graduated from the University of Michigan in 2008 with his MBA, MSc in sustainable systems, and graduate certificate in real estate development.
Gabriel currently serves as CEO and President, Responsible Alpha, a firm proudly owned by its team, advisors, and board members that is dedicated to enabling the transition to a net-zero, sustainable, and nature-positive future.
About Skylar Yu:
Skylar Yu is a dedicated Sustainability Associate specializing in geospatial modeling at Responsible Alpha. With a robust background in geospatial data science and sustainability, Skylar plays a crucial role in conducting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) analysis and developing GIS visualizations to support environmental research and strategic decision-making.
Skylar holds a Master of Science in Geospatial Data Science & Sustainable Systems from the University of Michigan, where they honed their expertise in data-driven environmental solutions. Their academic journey reflects a strong commitment to advancing sustainability through innovative geospatial analysis and environmental system optimizations.
At Responsible Alpha, Skylar collaborates closely with the team to ensure data accuracy and effective presentation, driving meaningful environmental outcomes that align with the company's mission of responsible stewardship.
