Greening Brownfield Properties (2010)
The project's objective is to produce a framework for ExxonMobil to evaluate the ecological, financial, and social benefits of adopting greening strategies when redeveloping its brownfield properties. This framework will be developed through the assessment of a City of Houston owned brownfield site. Strategies that will be incorporated in this framework and be pursued in our assessment include:
- Generating different "green" landscape designs for a specific brownfield site.
- Assessing the ecological benefits of undertaking the different greening options.
- Determining the social benefits of undertaking the different greening options.
- Capturing the change in property values caused by the conversion of brownfields into greenspaces.
