Sierra Nevada Journeys Strategic Expansion Plan 2016: Phase 1 - Environmental Education Center (2016)
Sierra Nevada Journeys (SNJ) is a non-profit organization that seeks to “develop critical thinking skills and to inspire natural resource stewardship” through innovative and hands-on outdoor science education programs on their campus, Grizzly Creek Ranch, in Portola, CA. SNJ seeks to serve as many students as possible every year, but physical resource and capacity restraints pose an issue as their programs experience increased demand each year, and expansion has become a necessary consideration. Through academic and field research, we have developed a strategic expansion plan which allows SNJ to continue serving the widest audience possible on its 1,500 acre ranch, as well as take advantage of incredible natural features on the property to expand educational program offerings. The expansion will need to take place across multiple phases and this will be the first phase of a multiyear project.
