Collin Richter

I am a PhD student with Dr. Johannes Foufopoulos. I am originally from Canton, Michigan and have spent time conducting research and fieldwork in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, across the Southeast US, the Mojave Desert, the US Virgin Islands, and Amazonian Brazil. I have worked with both game and non-game species, including bobwhite quail, American alligators, desert tortoises, and eastern diamondback rattlesnakes. Outside of research, I enjoy hiking, birding, racquetball, biking, carpentry, and hanging out with my leopard gecko and boa constrictor.

Research
My dissertation will examine the ecology of herpetofaunal communities of the Aegean Islands, Greece, as well as the influence of human activity on reptile distributions and population genetics. I have a broad range of ecological research interests include movement and spatial ecology, island biogeography, as well as applied conservation and recovery of imperiled species. I am also interested in pursuing a career in graduate and undergraduate education.
