About

Katie Trevathan is an experienced marketing and communications leader who has dedicated more than two decades of her career to advancing the mission, visibility, and impact of the University of Michigan. With a BA in Advertising from Michigan State University and an MS in Integrated Marketing Communications from Eastern Michigan University, she has built a career around translating complex academic and organizational priorities into clear, compelling narratives and strategically managed projects.

Before joining SEAS, Katie held key communications roles at Michigan Ross' Center for Positive Organizations, the Ford School of Public Policy, the Graham Institute, and the Office of International Programs. Her work has included leading major rebranding efforts, producing award-winning publications, managing large-scale multimedia projects, crafting donor engagement campaigns, coordinating cross-campus collaborations, and supporting faculty in high-visibility media and outreach efforts. Her professional strengths—strategic planning, relationship-building, team leadership, and full-scope project execution—align closely with SEAS' need for integrated, mission-driven communications and operational support.

Katie is deeply connected to the work of SEAS, both professionally and personally. The school’s mission—promoting sustainability, protecting the environment, and preparing future leaders to address climate change—reflects her own lifelong values. Born and raised in Ann Arbor, she feels most at home in the natural world and spends her free time camping, backpacking, kayaking, swimming, and exploring Michigan’s trails and waterways with her husband and two children.
