EAS 501.079 - Communicating Climate Change
Description
This course provides an overview of different methods of climate change communication, with a particular focus on communication designed to promote public engagement with climate change. The class will explore public opinion on climate change, different theoretical perspectives on barriers to effective communication and public engagement with the topic, and compare and contrast the effectiveness of different methods of climate change communication across different contexts, mediums, and for different goals. This course takes a predominantly social scientific approach, meaning that we will mostly read and reflect on articles that scientifically test the effectiveness of various communication strategies.
