EAS 677.001 - Writing Resistance, Environmental Justice and AI
Description
This course looks at writing as a method of world-building, narrative justice, and the development of advocacy skills for a cleaner, better future. Before entering this course, you should have a basic understanding of environmental justice and the conceptual underpinnings of race, racism, and inequality in US society. We will read key essays on the usage of AI in developing ideas about environmental justice and listen to key stories that highlight injustices and counternarratives. Students will be asked to write one novel essay that takes on the mainstream approach and begins to develop and harness argumentation for a counterargument.
This course is a weekend-long course that will be held from October 9th through 11th.
