Fall Webinar Series: Introduction to Environmental Policy and Planning
Using policy and planning tools to advance environmental protection and sustainability goals (EPP): The session will offer an introduction to the Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Planning at SEAS and offer examples of the work students undertake.
There will also be time for questions, so we encourage you to bring anything you would like to ask about the program.
Speaker:
Steven Yaffee, Professor of Environmental Policy and Planning
Professor Yaffee is a faculty member in Environmental Policy and Planning specializing in Climate + Energy and Conservation + Restoration. His research focuses on collaborative decision-making for complex environmental and sustainability choices, examining both traditional political processes and new collaborative structures designed to encourage more effective decision-making.
He is particularly interested in landscape-scale conservation, sustainable natural resource management, and encouraging institutions to adopt ecosystem-scale perspectives, with a specific focus on biological diversity, public lands, marine/coastal ecosystems, and energy policy. His work combines research with practical field experience, facilitating dispute resolution, collaborative problem-solving, and developing monitoring, evaluation, and adaptive management strategies for nonprofits and foundations. At SEAS, he teaches skill-building courses in political and institutional analysis, negotiation, and mediation.
