Charging Forward: Framework & Drivers for Accelerating Electric Vehicles with Greg Keoleian, U-M Professor
There have been many bumps in the road impacting EV production, sales, and adoption in the US. Growth of EV production and adoption in the US is impacted by a complex set of factors such as range anxiety and charging infrastructure deployment, total cost of ownership, shifting government policy, evolving battery chemistry, and critical material supply chain security. Systems analysis tools provide stakeholders with guidance to navigate these complexities.
This webinar will explore recent research findings to accelerate vehicle electrification in the US and draw on comparisons with China. Working with car companies, battery developers, and policy makers, University of Michigan researchers have developed a life cycle management framework to help stakeholders navigate complexity and align key drivers to advance electric vehicles. This life cycle management framework addresses technology, design, business, policy, markets, and consumer drivers and tradeoffs that influence electric vehicle growth.
Results from studies of the total cost of ownership, life cycle comparative assessments across powertrains/vehicle types/battery chemistries, critical material supply chains, and EV policy will be shared, and recommendations made based on the success of the Chinese EV industry, where technology, government policy, and markets are well aligned.
This one-hour session will include a presentation followed by live Q&A.
