Dr. Dorceta Taylor, James E. Crowfoot Collegiate Professor and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, has been selected to receive the 2020 Wilbur Lucius Cross Medal presented by the Yale Graduate School Alumni Association. The Wilbur Cross Medal is awarded for "distinguished achievements in scholarship, teaching, academic administration, and public service.” The award is made to a small number of individuals (up to six) annually, and was first awarded in 1966. It is the highest honor that Yale Graduate School bestows on its alumni.
In October, 2020, Dr. Taylor will visit Yale to be honored with a day of celebration with faculty and graduate students in her department, an informal talk, and a gala dinner and medal award ceremony. The Cross Medal recognizes the continued legacy of service and excellence inaugurated by Wilbur Lucius Cross, who served as dean of the Yale Graduate School from 1916 to 1930, and governor of Connecticut from 1930 to 1939.
