Dr. Ming Xu named Director of China Programs

Dr. Ming Xu, associate professor in SEAS and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been appointed Director of China Programs for SEAS.
In this role, Xu will chair the Global Engagement Committee for SEAS and represent the school on U-M's Council on Global Engagement. He will oversee a strategic China engagement program for SEAS, including expanding relations with Chinese universities and identifying academic partnership opportunities.
Xu's research focuses on sustainable engineering and industrial ecology, with specific interests on trade and environment, environmental impacts of emerging technologies including autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles and biofuels, and big data and data science applications in urban sustainability. He is a core faculty member in the Center for Sustainable Systems, co-directs the Graduate Certificate Program in Industrial Ecology, and currently serves on the Advisory Committee of the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute and the Executive Committee of the China Data Center.
