Congratulations to Amy Zuckerwise, a PhD student at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS), who was awarded a prestigious three-year Future Investigators in NASA Earth and Space Science and Technology (FINESST) fellowship for her project, “Integrating Models of Ephemeral Water and Wildlife Energetics Using Synthetic Aperture Radar.” The award, in the amount of $150,000, will be used for Zuckerwise’s research on tigers in Nepal, which focuses on the impacts of development on human-tiger coexistence in the Terai Arc Landscape. She utilizes methods from ecology and social science, including satellite tracking, spatial modeling, in-depth interviews and participatory surveys. Her advisor is SEAS Associate Professor Neil Carter.
