School for Environment and Sustainability alumnus Dr. Robert Corry (PhD '02) was presented the Triad Award from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) at its annual conference in March. This is the first time the award has been given, which recognized Corry's "extended contributions and service to CELA above and beyond the call of duty to advance the mission of the CELA through scholarly and creative endeavors." During the past two years Corry led a task force to re-envision CELA's peer-reviewed publication, Landscape Journal, and acted as interim editor of the Journal during the transition to a new, permanent editorial team. In the past year the Journal doubled its output and incorporated a new editorial hierarchy to increase its impact. Corry is a professor of landscape architecture at the University of Guelph, Ontario, where he also directs the university's Centre for Land & Water Stewardship. Corry teaches ecological principles for landscape design, and his research investigates agricultural land conservation and reclamation of damaged lands for ecological and social consequences using principles and methods from landscape ecology. His publications range from assessing alternative landscape plans for ecological outcomes to informing agricultural policy to achieve multiple objectives.
