SEAS doctoral candidates named Dow Sustainability Doctoral Fellows
SEAS doctoral candidates Jennifer Carman and Morteza Taiebat have just been named Dow Sustainability Doctoral Fellows. They are among 11 exceptional doctoral candidates university-wide to receive the honor. Each Fellow will receive $15,000 to help support their research in the coming year.
Dow Masters and Doctoral Fellows come from academic departments throughout the university and seek to become sustainability leaders in academia, business, government, and non-governmental organizations. Fellows focus on interdisciplinary approaches to a broad array of sustainability challenges related to water, energy, transportation, built environment, climate change, food, health, human behavior, and others. Both Jennifer and Morteza are pursuing the Resource Policy and Behavior track.
Landscape architect student Shannon Sylte is a member of one of the two student-led teams to win the Dow Distinguished Awards Competition. Shannon’s interdisciplinary team, which was advised by Dr. Mark Lindquist, was awarded $35,000 for their project Community Engagement in Green Infrastructure Design. Read more about Shannon and the team’s project in her essay published in Stewards alumni magazine this fall.
