Tony Reames chosen as Midwest Energy News “40 under 40”
Assistant Professor Tony Reames has been chosen as one of the recipients of Midwest Energy News’ 2019 “40 Under 40.”
"I’m grateful for my U-M colleagues, students in the Urban Energy Justice Lab, and community-based partners that help make the work I do possible,” said Reames.
Midwest Energy News’ 40 Under 40 awards program highlights emerging leaders throughout the region and their work in America’s transition to a clean energy economy.
Each year, Midwest Energy News recognizes Midwest-based leaders and innovators from all sectors—industry, government, regulatory, business, academia, nonprofit, and advocacy. Those selected are invited to the Honorees Reception in Chicago to celebrate and network with the prestigious advisory committee and past award recipients.
As a multidisciplinary scholar, with degrees in engineering and social science, Reames' research agenda seeks to connect the areas of technological advancement, the policy process, and social equity. His research extends the environmental justice scholarship to focus on energy justice. He is currently exploring disparities in residential energy generation, consumption, and affordability—focusing on the production and persistence of inequality by race, class, and place.
Earlier this year, Reames had been selected for the renowned Grist 50, an annual list featuring the most promising green innovators and influencers—who are under the age of 40.
