Feasibility Study on the Reintroduction of Beaver at Inspiration Ridge Preserve: Mitigating Climate Change Impacts to Peatlands on the Southern Kenai Peninsula
Homer, Alaska
Project Description
Beaver restoration efforts can have different objectives. We decided to pursue the following for this project: Establish the feasibility of re-establishing beavers in the Fritz Creek Watershed to places they occurred historically. It also entails sharing information to help our community recognize the complexities of our water quality issues and healthy beaver populations' contributions. If feasible, a pilot program that utilizes the beavers' unmatched natural engineering ability to build and maintain dams high in the watershed.
