Shiloh Maples (Little River Band of Ottawa Indians) is a doctoral student at the University of Michigan's School for Environment and Sustainability. She has a Master's in social work, specializing in community organizing and food systems. For over a decade, Shiloh has served the Indigenous food and seed sovereignty movement, supporting capacity-building and cross-movement alliance-building among grassroots groups, Tribal communities, and institutional partners. She intends to focus her dissertation on how seed rematriation (i.e., the recovery of culturally-significant seeds) contributes to environmental and social justice within Indigenous communities.
