Duggan is the founder SustainabiliD, a woman-owned, woman service-disabled veteran operated, Detroit-based diverse small business working with gamechangers to equitably solve the climate crisis. She has been named the founding director of the University of Michigan’s SEAS Sustainability Clinic in Detroit. She’s a public board director, senior advisor to a global investment firm and advises numerous climatech companies.
Duggan has held numerous public-service roles. Currently, she is an appointee to the prestigious Secretary of Energy's Advisory Board (SEAB) under Secretary Jennifer Granholm, as well as a Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointee to the State of Michigan’s Council on Climate Solutions. From 2010 to 2017, Duggan served in the Obama-Biden Administration, at White House as deputy director for policy for then Vice President Joe Biden and as deputy director of the White House’s Detroit task force (where she championed Detroit’s street lighting conversion to LEDs for a smaller carbon footprint, the city's first urban solar park and a resilience MOU with Argonne National Lab) and earlier held several senior roles at the Department of Energy, mainly in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
Event Details:
We are excited to officially announce that SEAS/PitE will be celebrating the graduating Classes of 2022 on Saturday, April 30 at an outdoor commencement ceremony at the iconic Elbel Field.
At the corner of S. Division and Hill, Elbel Field has been the practice field for the U-M Marching Band for decades. Named after Louis Elbel, author of “The Victors,” it will be a particularly fitting venue to celebrate the accomplishments of SEAS’ 2022 graduates.
We’re proud to be one of three schools on campus that have partnered together to hold our respective ceremonies at Elbel Field this year, and we’re grateful to our partners at the School of Public Health and Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. Together, we’ll build a temporary 2,000+ seat venue with accessible flooring and a stage on the grassy part of Elbel, just south of the marching band’s field, and we’ll have use of the Coliseum across Hill Street for staging graduates. This space has the benefit of ample parking, as well. View parking directions here.
Immediately following the ceremony, all graduates and their guests, faculty, and staff are invited to attend a celebratory gathering with light refreshments at Ingalls Mall South (approximately 758 N. University Ave.) under the large tent.
COVID-19 Policy:
Effective March 14, 2022, masking will be optional in most indoor spaces on campus including in offices, residence halls and at athletic events. For the latest information and updates related to COVID-19, please visit the Campus Maize and Blueprint: https://campusblueprint.umich.edu
