NWRI Fellowship Program

Amount
$5000
Description

Each year, the National Water Research Institute (NWRI) and its partners fund fellowships to support the water scientists and innovators of the future. We support graduate student research on water resources science, technology, management, policy, and regulation.

NWRI joins the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) and Southern California Salinity Coalition (SCSC) to award fellowships of $5,000 and 10,000. To be eligible, students must be accepted and enrolled in a United States-based graduate program.

NWRI Member Agency Graduate Fellowships: $5,000

  • NWRI Member Agencies are water utilities in Southern California that support NWRI’s mission. This fellowship is awarded to students whose research supports developing or enhancing drinking water supplies and water resources.

NWRI–AMTA Graduate Fellowships for Membrane Technology: $10,000

  • The NWRI-AMTA fellowship is awarded to students whose research advances membrane technology in water, wastewater, or water reuse industries.

NWRI – SCSC Graduate Fellowship: $10,000

  • The NWRI-SCSC fellowship is awarded to California students whose research addresses the critical need to remove or reduce salt in water supplies.

Eligible student research can encompass water reuse; drinking water treatment processes; physical, chemical, biological, or health science; environmental and natural resources science; political science and public policy; water resource economics; and regulatory issues.
