Advice

You’ll be fortunate if what you want to do coincides with what you have to do, but make the most of it. I wanted to do lab research on physiological and behavioral effects of marine pollution. I ended up being chief field scientist for coastal contamination assessment studies, which has taken me to every ocean in the northern hemisphere from the Caribbean, to Guam, to the Arctic and everywhere in between.
