Favorite Memory

The annual deer census at the George Reserve. An amazing outdoor mid-winter experience that I shared with my business school friends from around the world. They still talk about it.

Advice

Learn to think laterally and question the prevailing wisdom by asking: “What if we are wrong?” There is a tendency to think that what we know today is immutable and final. Work hard to advance your knowledge in whatever area you happen to be working. What I learned about tree planting on-the-ground in my first job has informed my thinking about many things throughout my career.

Idol
Prof. Harrison Morton, my faculty advisor. Without his advice and encouragement, I would not have landed my first job as a forester.
