Climate change and fungal infections (histoplasmosis and blastomycosis)
Histoplasmosis and blastomycosis are two other fungal infections with shifting geographic ranges. These diseases are endemic to the Midwestern region of the United States, where major outbreaks have been documented in recent years. Using electronic health records and Medicare claims, we plan to investigate the relationship between major climate phenomenon – such as flooding – and disease outbreaks.
