Congratulations to Tony G. Reames, director of the SEAS Detroit Sustainability Clinic and Tishman Professor of Environmental Justice, on being selected to serve as co-chair of Detroit Mayor-Elect Mary Sheffield’s Infrastructure, Sustainability & Climate Change Transition Committee. This leadership role reflects Reames’ expertise in energy and environmental justice, as well as his long-standing commitment to supporting equitable, place-based policy solutions in Detroit and beyond.
As co-chair, Reames will help guide Rise Higher Detroit – Mayor-Elect Sheffield’s bold, community-centered transition process – by shaping early policy priorities that strengthen infrastructure, advance sustainability and support climate resilience across all neighborhoods. The committee will collaborate with residents, civic leaders and city departments to help develop the incoming administration's 100-Day plan and First Term Action Plan. Reames’ work will ensure that Detroiters’ voices and lived experiences drive the city’s strategy for equitable, long-term transformation.
