Jianxing Guan
As a researcher, Jianxing is dedicated to improving livable environments for vulnerable populations by addressing environmental justice and promoting stewardship. Her dissertation research will investigate how visible signs of care for one's property can influence and be influenced by the conditions of surrounding properties, including vacant lots. She aims to foster sustainable urban practices by enhancing community engagement and stewardship through these cues to care. As a landscape designer, Jianxing is passionate about ecological designs like green infrastructure and pollinator gardens. She collaborates with Friends of the Rouge to conduct workshops that educate local communities about DIY low-maintenance residential rain gardens.
