The Eunice Burns Fund for Water Policy Education
Established in 2013 by Laurie Burns McRobbie and Michael A. McRobbie, the Eunice Burns Fund for Water Policy Education supports students pursuing internships focused on freshwater resource management, supply, and/or policy.
Eligibility:
SEAS Graduate Students or PitE Undergraduate Students
This fund is meant to support unpaid internships. Supplementing paid internship offers will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but preference will be given to unfunded offers from host organizations. Students with limited existing professional experience will also be given added preference for the funding.
Selection Criteria:
Student recipients must be in good academic standing with a demonstrated academic interest in water quality and conversation. Preference is given to students pursuing internships with the Huron River Watershed Council or similar nonprofits focused on water resource conservation and use in the Southeastern Michigan area.
Application Process:
Submit (PDF formats) a 1) single resume, 2) brief cover letter outlining distinctive career benefits you see gaining from the experience, and 3) an offer letter from your host organization demonstrating that the internship you have secured is unfunded (if applicable). The host offer letter should also describe the roles and responsibilities you will undertake during the (up to 12 weeks) internship, and start and end dates. Email your completed application by 5pm Wednesday, March 19, 2025, to [email protected].
