Advisory Board
Throughout this project, an Advisory Board, comprised of globally recognized experts on a diverse set of topics including Indigenous affairs, climate change, water resources management, governance structures and policy, will inform the Center’s research directions and engagement activities. The Advisory Board will actively analyze the Global Center’s functions, approaches, and processes, and assist in creating scalable knowledge to be adapted to other transnational watersheds facing similar challenges. The Advisory will be co-chaired by Jon W. Allan and Dr. Chris McLaughlin. Jon W. Allan is currently the U.S. co-chair of the IJC Great Lakes Water Quality Board and former Director of the State of Michigan’s Office of the Great Lakes (now the Office of Energy, Great Lakes, and the Environment). Allan also served as chair of both the Great Lakes Commission and of the Executive Committee of the Conference of Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers. Dr. Chris McLaughlin is the Executive Director of the Bay Area Restoration Council in Hamilton, Ontario, and is the Canadian co-chair of the IJC’s Great Lakes Water Quality Board. He also serves as a member of the Canadian Environmental Law Association’s Healthy Great Lakes Advisory Committee.
