Congratulations to faculty and students in the Master of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) who were recognized with 2026 American Society of Landscape Architecture (ASLA) Professional and Student Awards!

Keenan Gibbons and SmithGroup received an Honor Award, Research for their project, “Heat Health: A pre- and 5-year post-occupancy thermal case study.” Gibbons is an intermittent lecturer in environment at SEAS.
Yekang Ko
Landscape Architecture students Kayla Vaccaro, Zhiyu Guo, Kate Perazzo and Yunjia Zou, Environmental Planning and Policy student Daniela Cruciani, and their advisor, SEAS Associate Professor Yekang Ko, received an Honor Award, Student Collaboration for their conceptual planning project, Harper Preserve: Agrivoltaic Research Park + Community Center. 

The ASLA Awards recognize the vision and impact of landscape architects at every stage of their careers. Each year, leading practitioners, emerging designers and students submit projects that restore habitats, strengthen communities and elevate the human experience of place.
