SEAS Class of 2023 Scholarship Fund

Amount
$1000
Description

The Class Gift has been an annual tradition at SEAS for more than two decades. In 2023, the graduating class campaigned to raise funds and established an endowed scholarship that will support SEAS students.

Eligibility:

Second and third-year SEAS Master of Science or Landscape Architecture students from all specializations are welcome to apply. The recipient must be graduating in the Winter 2026 term and demonstrate financial need.

Selection Criteria:

The SEAS Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, in conjunction with the SEAS Scholarship Committee, will determine award decisions. All applicants will be notified of decisions in late December 2025.

SEAS Application Process:

Students must submit a short essay describing how this award would support them in finishing their SEAS education (100 words max). Students will also need to include answers to the following questions, numbered in order. Answers to these questions need to be separate from the essay, and will not be included in the 100-word count:

1. Did you hold a GSI/GSRA/GSSA position during your time in graduate school? The scholarship committee will confirm that the selected student will not hold a GSI/GSRA/GSSA position during the final semester of school before funds are disbursed.

2. Were you the recipient of any significant fellowships or merit-based scholarships (CEW, Dow, Rackham Non-traditional, Peter and Carolyn Mertz, etc.)?

3. Were you required to take out federal or private loans to pay for your graduate education? If yes, roughly how much?

4. If selected, would you prefer to apply the scholarship funds to tuition or disburse them to you to be used at your discretion?

This scholarship will be accepting applications from Monday, October 27th, through Monday, December 1, 2025. Email your essay with responses to the questions to [email protected] no later than 9:00 AM on Monday, December 1, 2025.
