About

Lori Atherton is the assistant director of marketing and communications at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS). She helps lead strategic communications and marketing initiatives that elevate the school’s programs, research and community impact. Prior to SEAS, she worked as a communications specialist at the University of Michigan Law School.

Planning for Climate Migration in the Great Lakes Region

People across the U.S. who live in hurricane-, wildfire- or drought-prone areas may be considering relocating to other places that are perceived as being safer from the effects of climate change. Vehicle electrification is the future, says SEAS Professor Greg Keoleian, whose recent study compares the greenhouse gas emissions of different vehicles based on size, usage, powertrain type and location. As a staff attorney at the Conservation Law Foundation (CLF), Ameya Gehi works to “ensure that corporate polluters are complying with laws that protect public health and the environment.” Among her cases are those involving violations of the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
