  5. Clinic Services

The Clinic provides both team-based and one-on-one capacity-building and technical assistance from University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) students and faculty. We collaborate on a wide range of projects specifically designed to meet client-identified sustainability goals. Our flexible approach allows projects to vary in length, scope, and level of university involvement, serving partners throughout Detroit and surrounding areas. Whether addressing urgent needs or supporting long-term planning, each project connects community organizations with SEAS students, faculty, and subject matter experts.

The Clinic currently offers four types of support services: Sustainability Helpdesk (real-time support); Sustainability Assistance (short-term support); Community Resilience Projects (intermediate-length projects); Capstone Projects (long-term projects). All support and projects align with at least one of the Clinic’s five Focus Areas: Environmental, Energy and Water Justice; Housing and Neighborhoods; Sustainability and Climate Action Planning; Green Infrastructure and Watershed Management; and Circular Economy.
