Post-fire revegetation in a Changing Climate

Bardou, Keppel-Aleks, Fischer, Huber-Stearns, Cousins

* A joint project with the Western Forests and Fire Initiative, University of Michigan. https://wffi.seas.umich.edu/

This project is focused on the post-fire vegetation changes of western forests as a response to environmental variability due to climate change and human land management practices. We use remote sensing and climate modeling to characterize environmental conditions pre-and post-fire, and examine the role of climate variations (particularly prolonged droughts and heatwaves) on forest recovery – in terms of overall vegetation productivity and species composition changes.
